The proposed budget by Ohio House Republicans that significantly cuts public school funding is deeply concerning and threatens the future of education in our state. Slashing over $400 million from what is needed to fully fund schools based on the Fair School Funding Plan will have devastating consequences for students, teachers, and communities. Public education is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of our society. Providing adequate resources for schools is crucial for ensuring equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their socioeconomic background. The proposed cuts will inevitably lead to larger class sizes, fewer educational programs, and potential job losses for teachers and staff, ultimately compromising the quality of education our children receive. Furthermore, the prioritization of funding for a private stadium project over investing in public education sends a troubling message about our values as a state. While economic development is important, it should not come at the expense of our children's futures. We must reconsider our priorities and recognize that investing in education is an investment in the long-term prosperity of our communities. I urge you to reconsider this misguided budget proposal and prioritize fully funding public education as outlined by the Fair School Funding Plan. Our children deserve access to quality education that prepares them for success in life, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that they have the resources they need to thrive.
