I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the recklessness and incompetence of public figures such as Pete Hegseth and Rep. Michael Waltz, as well as the glaring hypocrisy of the current administration’s actions. Recent revelations, including the Signal group chat debacle, underscore the dangerous double standards at play—where accountability seems to depend on political affiliation rather than actual misconduct. It has come to light that members of this administration and their allies, including Waltz, have engaged in off-the-record, encrypted communications through Signal for discussions related to government business. This is deeply troubling given the outrage and legal scrutiny surrounding Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server—an issue that dominated headlines and congressional hearings for years. If such practices were deemed a national security risk then, why are they being ignored now? The lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable. Moreover, Pete Hegseth continues to use his platform to spread misleading and inflammatory rhetoric that weakens public trust in our institutions and national security strategy. Instead of engaging in serious, solution-oriented dialogue, he and others have prioritized partisan attacks and disinformation, which only serve to destabilize our country further. The American people deserve leadership that is consistent, competent, and held to the same ethical and security standards regardless of party. I urge you to demand transparency and accountability for all public officials—whether in Congress, the media, or the executive branch. This includes investigating the use of Signal for government-related discussions and ensuring that those who engage in such behavior are subject to the same scrutiny applied to previous administrations. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response on how Congress intends to address these issues.
