The Environmental Protection Agency is under attack

To: Rep. Riley, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in Old Chatham, NY

March 25

Please stand up for the American People and tell the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Lee Zeldin, to halt the reduction in force (RIF) of EPA’s Office of Research and Development employees. The EPA workforce is made up of veterans, scientists, lab technicians, and other committed public servants who ensure that Americans across the country have clean air and drinking water every day. The EPA also plays a crucial role in responding to climate disasters by providing expertise in environmental protection. They monitored air and water quality during recent wildfires in Los Angeles and managed hazardous waste cleanup in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. This nonpartisan work has overwhelming public support. The proposed efforts to reduce the agency’s workforce threaten human health and the environment.  I need you to stand up for EPA staff because they protect all of us. Tell Administrator Zeldin to halt the reduction in force and stop dismantling the Office of Research and Development today.
