I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent statements made by President Donald Trump about the possibility of seeking a third term in office, as reported by NPR on March 30, 2025.
The 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution clearly limits an individual to two terms as president. President Trump’s suggestion that “there are methods” to circumvent this constitutional restriction is alarming and poses a potential threat to the democratic principles upon which our nation was founded.
As your constituent, I urge you to:
1. Publicly reaffirm the importance of adhering to the 22nd Amendment and the two-term limit for the presidency.
2. Oppose any legislative efforts aimed at altering or repealing the 22nd Amendment to allow a third presidential term.
3. Advocate for transparency and uphold the Constitution by ensuring that any attempts to extend presidential tenure are met with rigorous scrutiny and public discourse.
Our democracy relies on the steadfast commitment of our elected officials to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. I trust that you will represent the interests of your constituents by taking a firm stand against any actions that could undermine these foundational principles.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. I look forward to your response and to seeing you champion the preservation of our democratic institutions.
