Investigate Security Breach Concerning Classified Military Operations Mishandling

To: Rep. Larsen, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A constituent in Freeland, WA

March 27

I am gravely concerned about the security breach involving high-ranking officials discussing sensitive military operations on a potentially vulnerable messaging app. This reckless disregard for safeguarding classified information is unacceptable and raises serious questions about the competence and judgment of those involved. It is alarming that national security matters of such magnitude were carelessly shared in a manner that jeopardized operational security and potentially endangered lives. This incident undermines our standing on the global stage and strains relationships with allies and partners who rely on the United States to handle sensitive information with the utmost care. I urge you to thoroughly investigate this matter and hold those responsible fully accountable. Merely deflecting or downplaying the severity of this lapse is inadequate. There must be tangible consequences for such egregious violations of protocol, as well as a formal acknowledgment of the profound error and reassurance that robust measures will be implemented to prevent any reoccurrence. The American people deserve transparency on how such a severe breach was allowed to occur, as well as a demonstration of your commitment to restoring confidence in our nation's ability to safeguard sensitive information and respect the sovereignty of other nations. Inaction is unacceptable when our credibility and relationships with allies are at stake. I implore you to treat this matter with the gravity it deserves.
