I am a mother of two school-age children, a teacher, and a proud member of my community in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I strongly oppose the vast and poorly planned cuts to places like the Department of Health and Human Services, the FDA, and others. These departments, programs, and monies are vital for keeping America's people healthy and looking towards our future. When programs like Meals on Wheels disappear, there are suddenly thousands of seniors and disabled people without help and hope. When the agencies who monitor our food and medicine safety are reduced to dangerous levels, our food and medicine becomes less safe. When research across hundreds of scientific fields is halted, America falls to the back row in the world for scientific advancement that saves lives. These administrative moves are happening too fast, with assurances that "someone else" will handle these duties. However, with the thousands of jobs that are now gone, what people are left to truly run these programs with fidelity? The president is proving over and over that he does not have the interests of everyday American people like those of us here in Wisconsin in mind. He is making decisions to benefit corporations and personal interests, nothing more. Stand up for the people of Wisconsin who voted for you. Stand up for people like my family who are trusting you with our lives and health, and that of our community.
