I strongly oppose the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which imposes unnecessary barriers to voting and undermines our democracy.
This bill disproportionately impacts elderly voters, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and communities of color. An estimated 21.3 million eligible voters lack the required documentation, and up to 69 million married women will face voting obstacles due to name discrepancies. These restrictions do not enhance election security but instead suppress voter participation.
Federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections, and studies confirm that voter fraud is exceedingly rare. The SAVE Act would create confusion, burden election officials, and strip eligible voters of their lawful right to vote."
As your constituent, I urge you to oppose this harmful legislation and support policies that expand, rather than restrict, voter access.
