I’m writing to express my deep concern and outrage over recent actions by the Trump administration to cut legal aid programs for unaccompanied migrant children. It is both appalling and unacceptable that children—many of whom have fled violence and instability—are now being forced to navigate our complex immigration system without legal representation.
This is not just a legal or political issue. It is a humanitarian crisis and a direct violation of basic due process. These children deserve protection, compassion, and a fair chance to make their case—not to be left defenseless in courtrooms they don’t understand.
I want to know what you plan to do to address this. What steps will you take to ensure that unaccompanied migrant children are provided legal representation? Will you commit to restoring and protecting funding for legal aid programs for minors in immigration proceedings?
As your constituent, I expect action—not just statements. I urge you to speak out against these policy changes and to support legislation that guarantees every child access to legal counsel.
I look forward to your response and to learning how you will work to protect the rights and dignity of these vulnerable children.
