I’m asking you to take immediate action to stop the proposed sale of the Montgomery bus station that houses the Freedom Riders Museum. This site is a major piece of American history, honoring those who risked their lives to fight segregation. Selling it off as part of DOGE’s cost-cutting plan isn’t just reckless—it’s a shameful attack on civil rights history and everything our country should stand for.
As Representative Shomari Figures has pointed out, this sell-off disrespects Black history and the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement. If this sale goes through, the public could lose access to this historic site forever. We cannot allow that to happen.
I urge you to speak out, push for congressional oversight, and take real steps to block this sale. Preserving our history should never be up for debate—it’s our responsibility.
Please let me know what you plan to do to make sure this museum stays in public hands. This is not the time for silence—it’s the time to act.
