Support the potential ban on balloon releases I believe the ban that is being discussed is a good idea. Balloon releases may seem harmless and sentimental in theory, but they are a source of needless pollution and harm to the environment. What goes up must come down, and it does so in our neighborhoods, forests and waterways. Balloons take ages to break down and then what do we have … more microplastics…? It’s not worth a few moments of sentiment or catharsis compared to the years of harm and the deaths of fish and birds that get confused and eat the balloon trash. I believe the time is right for a ban and fully support one. If this comes before the legislature I hope it will be passed and signed into law by our great Governor Josh Shapiro. I know there are a lot of other things going on in the world and this may seem minor in comparison but I wanted to speak out after seeing a headline in the Inquirer that the balloon release ban was soon to be considered again.
