I am a constituent from Baldwin, NY, and I am appalled by the president sending people to Salvadoran prison. These people had no due process—we don’t have any evidence they were gang members, and it’s turning out some clearly were not. Do we even know if they are Venezuelan? Do we know they were here illegally? In the absence of due process, we have no way of knowing. And rather than being deported to their country of origin, they went to a prison—without trial, without conviction—in another country, where they will be treated as slaves. One thing we do know: money changed hands. So how is that not human trafficking?! Yes, the US government is engaged in human trafficking. You need to be speaking out about that—hell, you should be shouting from the rooftops. The president is a human trafficker. If that isn’t an impeachable offense, I don’t know what is. This is so far beyond the pale I’m at a loss for words to describe it. But that’s no excuse for any of us to let it continue. I am counting on you as my elected representative to lead on this. To do otherwise would be complicit. Thank you.
