Illegal detention of Documented Students

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Goldman, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Fort Worth, TX

March 28

I know the intent of the administration is to shock and awe us, to detract us. However, daily, I am so saddened and disappointed to see what you spend your time on and not on. Democracy and freedoms that I have, and most Americans, have taken for granted continue to erode and our economy continues to crumble. And as a parent, I would be remiss if I did not call out the federal government for the illegal detention, and "kidnappings" of international born colleg e students. As a parent, I would be remiss if I did not call out the federal government for the illegal detention, of others who are in this country legally. You should be ashamed, disgusted and outraged. This is not the country I know. It is not the country I want my children to live in and it will have a huge effect on our economic future. This is a repeat of facism and it is both horrifying and embarrassing. I implore you as our representative to hold the administration accountable for its lack of respect for due process and the law. There was an immigration bill in place that had been heavily negotiated by both parties. Instead, you chose to follow marching orders from who was at the time an ex-President and a potential candidate. You chose and continue to let this disrespect and disregard for people legally in our country to continue and install a fictional fear in all that live here. Our country grows and evolves because of our debate and resolve to celebrate our differences. This shameful decision will remain on your conscience and your legacy.
