the President obviously should not be selling cars on the White House lawn

To: Sen. Gallego, Rep. Stanton, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Tempe, AZ

March 16

congress President Trump is wrong that boycotting Tesla, or other companies, is illegal. It’s frankly alarming that he either does not know protesting and boycotting private companies is legal under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, or knows this and is lying. However, as is clearly laid out in 5 CFR § 2635.702, the use of a government office for private gain—either for one’s self or one’s friends, family, or associates—IS illegal. No one, including the President, should be using the power of their elected office to shill cars or clothing or anything else to the American people. What the President has done is unethical and illegal. Please speak up about this! Thank you for your time.
