Trade wars not only hurt economies but they also put strain on international relationships and the livelihoods of civilians. As a concerned citizen, the growing hostilities between the US and our northern neighbor, Canada, worry me greatly. Particularly, the hostile economic strategies embraced by the Trump administration are leading us down a perilous path.
The imposition of tariffs is an apparent attempt to wage an economic war with Canada. This not only strains our diplomatic ties with a traditional ally, but it also harms our economy. According to the Trade Partnership, an economic consulting firm, US jobs impacted by the trade war could grow to 2.6 million if the trade conflict continues to escalate (Trade Partnership, 2019).
Being a staunch supporter of democracy, I believe that economic decisions should be made with consideration for mutual growth and prosperity. Harboring hostilities only serves to destabilize economies and breed discontent.
This is not a political issue, this is a humanitarian one. For the safety and prosperity of ourselves and our future generations, you must address this issue head-on. I am demanding an end to the unjust tariffs and cease this economic conflict with Canada.
Stop supporting this absolute psychopath and his terrible economic policies.
