I strongly oppose providing any form of compensation to the individuals involved in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. These were not peaceful protesters exercising their rights, but rioters engaged in a violent attempt to overturn a free and fair election. Their actions directly threatened our democratic institutions and the lives of law enforcement officers working to uphold their sworn duty. While I respect differing political views, the rioters crossed a line that cannot be excused or rewarded. True patriots respect the rule of law and the will of the people as expressed through legitimate elections. Compensating those who sought to undermine those principles would be a dangerous precedent that condones political violence. I urge you to reject any proposals along these lines and instead focus on upholding equal justice and protecting our democratic norms.
