$75 to $2,250 for a Conversation? Seriously? Hold a Real Town Hall
To: Rep. Amodei
From: A verified voter in Reno, NV
March 24
Once again, you have refused to hold a real town hall—instead, you are charging Nevadans $75 to $2,250 for a “discussion” where you will “offer unique insights” into policy and the economy. Let’s be honest—this isn’t a discussion. This is a fundraiser where only those willing to pay get to be heard.
Your constituents deserve real representation—not pay-to-play access. You have refused to schedule a free, public town hall for eight years, yet you have no problem meeting behind closed doors with those who can afford to line your campaign coffers.
What about the Nevadans who can’t afford to buy access to their own congressman? What about the teachers, the service workers, the veterans, and the students who have real concerns—but no disposable income to spend on “relaxed yet informative” events?
You were elected to serve all of your constituents, not just those who can pay for your attention. If you are too afraid to face everyday Nevadans in a public forum, then perhaps it’s time we elect someone who will.
I demand that you schedule a free, in-person town hall immediately—not a tele-town hall, not an exclusive event, but a real public forum where your constituents can speak and be heard. If you refuse, then don’t be surprised when voters refuse to support you in return.
