Protect judicial independence and impartiality in Kansas courts
To: Rep. Schreiber
From: A verified voter in Emporia, KS
March 18
Justices on the Kansas Supreme Court should continue to be selected through the non-partisan merit process rather than direct elections. The current system promotes judicial independence by insulating justices from the pressures of campaigning and partisan politics. Maintaining an impartial judiciary is crucial for upholding the rule of law and protecting constitutional rights for all Kansans. Direct elections could politicize the court and undermine public trust in its rulings. We must preserve the integrity of the state's highest court by retaining the merit selection process for justices. Vote NO on SCR1611.
