The United States Postal Service is a vital national institution that provides an essential public service to all Americans, regardless of location or income level. Privatizing this service would undermine its accessibility and affordability, particularly for rural and low-income communities who rely on USPS for reliable and affordable mail delivery. The push for privatization is driven by corporate interests seeking to extract profits, rather than a genuine effort to improve service. As evidenced by other countries' experiences, privatization leads to higher costs, slower delivery times, and worse working conditions for postal workers. We cannot allow the dismantling of this constitutionally mandated public service in pursuit of private profits. The USPS operates on a self-sustaining basis without taxpayer funding, providing affordable universal delivery while employing over 600,000 workers in good, union jobs. Privatization threatens these jobs and the critical infrastructure supporting e-commerce, small businesses, rural communities and the free flow of information through the mail. I urge you to firmly oppose any attempts to privatize the Postal Service or compromise its independence as an establishment of the executive branch. The USPS is a public good that belongs to the American people, not corporations seeking to profit off of its dismantling. We must protect this invaluable national institution and the universal service it provides.
