Michigan school children are facing severe budget cuts to education funding which will harm their ability to learn and succeed. The Michigan House has approved a $20 billion budget plan for the upcoming 2025-2026 fiscal year that slashes $5 billion from K-12 school aid. These draconian cuts will force schools to lay off teachers, increase class sizes, eliminate important programs, and reduce critical support services for students. We cannot allow our children's futures to be compromised by shortchanging their education. Our schools need proper funding to provide a quality learning environment and give all students the opportunity to reach their full potential. Significantly reducing school aid will have devastating impacts on Michigan's youth. I urge state legislators to reconsider these misguided budget cuts that undermine public education.
