Regarding the ‘bipartisan’ effort to repeal section 230. Are you nuts? Why would you give congress existential leverage over tech platforms when our party is in the minority? You'll help the fascist opposition obtain that power willingly and then expire it before the next presidential term? The very fact that GOP are in favor of this should give you all pause and make you run in the other direction.
I have worked in this industry for years and I am telling you, section 230 is vital for a healthy internet. Go after the Tech giants in some other way. Don’t throw the everyday users who rely on the internet under the bus.
For a better understanding of this, I recommend looking at this (written when SCTUS was looking at this a couple years ago, but still relevant to understanding this):

“Nearly everyone who speaks online relies on Section 230, a 1996 law that promotes free speech online. Because users rely on online intermediaries as vehicles for their speech, they can communicate to large audiences without needing financial resources or technical know-how to distribute their own speech. Section 230 plays a critical role in enabling free speech online by generally ensuring that those intermediaries are not legally responsible for what is said by others.”
FIRST AMENDMENT. FREE SPEECH.
And for the love of all that is holy STOP WORKING WITH THE GOP!!! WE DON’T WANT THAT! WE WANT THEM STOPPED ON ALL FRONTS!
Thank you for your attention to this.
