Save our Democracy! We are in a constitutional crisis!

To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla, Rep. McClintock

From: A constituent in Modesto, CA

March 21

I am writing to express my deep concern about the future of our democracy, the erosion of critical public institutions, and the potentially disastrous consequences of Project 2025. These pressing issues demand the immediate attention of the highest court in our land, as they affect not only the lives of every American citizen but also the very fabric of our nation. First, I urge you to recognize the importance of preserving democracy. Our electoral system, while imperfect, has been the cornerstone of American freedom and liberty. Any attempts to undermine this system—whether through the erosion of voting rights, the silencing of voters, or the corruption of fair electoral processes—threaten the very essence of our Republic. Project 2025, as we know, seeks to roll back critical protections that safeguard the rights of citizens to have their voices heard and their votes counted. It is imperative that this project be halted, as it seeks to systematically disenfranchise marginalized communities and strip away essential civil liberties. Secondly, I implore you to consider the value of public institutions such as our libraries and the United States Postal Service (USPS). Libraries have long served as the heart of our communities—places where individuals, regardless of their background, can access information, education, and resources. In the digital age, they continue to be vital hubs for the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of literacy. Yet, libraries are under increasing threat of underfunding and closure because the administration wants to suppress knowledge. The continued support and protection of libraries is essential to ensuring equal access to information for all Americans. Equality for all Americans. Similarly, the USPS has been a cornerstone of our nation’s infrastructure for over two centuries, providing reliable mail services, facilitating communication, and ensuring the delivery of goods to even the most remote areas of our country. The USPS is not just a service—it is a vital institution that connects us all, and any attempts to weaken it or privatize it would only serve to deepen the inequalities already present in our society. I implore you to recognize the importance of maintaining the integrity of this public service. The preservation of democracy, the protection of libraries, and the safeguarding of the United States Postal Service are not political issues—they are moral imperatives that define the soul of our nation. I urge you to take bold action in defense of these vital pillars of American society. Thank you for your time and consideration. I trust that, in your wisdom, you will act to preserve the freedoms and institutions that make our country great.
