An Open Letter

To: Gov. Reeves

From: A constituent in Corinth, MS

March 18

The proposed legislation HB 916 aims to impose severe restrictions on the vaping industry, which could devastate small vape businesses across the state. Many of these businesses are locally owned and operated, providing jobs and economic opportunities within their communities. The overly harsh regulations outlined in this bill would make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for these small enterprises to remain operational. While reasonable safety standards are understandable, HB 916 goes too far in its attempt to curtail the vaping industry. I urge you to reconsider this draconian approach and instead work collaboratively with vape business owners to develop more balanced regulations that protect public health without crippling an entire sector of our state's economy. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and they deserve a fair chance to thrive and succeed.
