A temporary funding resolution maintaining current levels is needed to prevent a government shutdown, but more importantly, this must be coupled with enforceable guardrails that reassert Congressional authority over federal spending. Elon Musk's unilateral control of DOGE poses a severe threat to our democratic system of checks and balances. Congress has a constitutional duty to rein in this rogue agency through legally-binding measures in the spending bill. Failing to do so would further erode the separation of powers and enable Musk's dangerous consolidation of power. I urge you to support a clean CR along with robust provisions to block DOGE overreach and restore Congress's power of the purse.
