I am writing to express my concern regarding the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its lack of transparency, conflicts of interest, and financial burden on taxpayers. Though intended to cut government waste, DOGE is engaging in non-transparent spending, awarding six-figure salaries, and consolidating power with minimal oversight. Conflicts of Interest & Lack of Transparency Elon Musk, who leads DOGE, has been given broad access to federal data and agencies without disclosing financial holdings—raising alarms about potential self-dealing in contracts that impact Tesla and SpaceX. DOGE has also eliminated key oversight agencies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which previously investigated Tesla. Misleading Cost-Cutting Claims Despite initial claims that DOGE members were volunteers, many are receiving six-figure government salaries, including: • Jeremy Lewin (DOGE official at GSA) – $167,000/year • Kyle Schutt (DOGE tech expert) – $195,200/year • Nate Cavanaugh – $120,500/year DOGE has already cost taxpayers nearly $40 million while refusing to disclose full budget reports. If DOGE is cutting waste, why is it becoming an unaccountable, growing expense? Destabilizing Government & Public Services DOGE-driven mass firings and agency shutdowns have eliminated critical programs, including: • Over 100,000 federal job layoffs • Shutdown of USAID humanitarian programs • Disruptions in education, veterans’ services, and infrastructure planning DOGE’s reckless approach weakens government efficiency rather than strengthening it. Congress Must Act to Restore Oversight I urge you to: 1. Demand Full Transparency – Require DOGE to disclose its full budget and expenditures. 2. Investigate Conflicts of Interest – Ensure all DOGE members disclose financial holdings. 3. Audit DOGE’s Impact – Assess how its actions affect public services and government efficiency. 4. Prevent Unchecked Power Expansion – Ensure DOGE cannot unilaterally restructure agencies. I urge you to restore accountability and protect taxpayer interests by demanding oversight of DOGE. Allowing an unelected task force to operate unchecked threatens ethical governance and public trust. Thank you for your time and attention.
