Public libraries are invaluable community resources that provide free access to information, education, and opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds. The proposed Ohio House of Representatives budget threatens to cut funding for public libraries in Cuyahoga County by nearly 25%. This drastic reduction would severely undermine libraries' ability to offer essential programs, services, and resources when demand is higher than ever. Preserving robust and stable funding for public libraries should be a priority. Libraries empower citizens by promoting literacy, bridging the digital divide, supporting job seekers and small businesses, and serving as community hubs. Undermining their funding jeopardizes these vital functions that strengthen our society and democracy. I urge you to restore full funding to the Public Library Fund to ensure Cuyahoga County libraries can continue serving our communities effectively.
