I am so devastated by EVERYTHING I've been witnessing these past few months. There's so many issues that it's hard to know where to begin. I am worried for the future of our country and us, as Americans. I am in the 1st generations of American women who were born with rights regarding my Healthcare who have seen those rights being taken away. I've been fighting for the safety and rights of LGBTQIA+ Americans for more than 20 years. It feels less safe for us now than it did when I began. can only succeed as a nation if we know and acknowledge our flawed past. I've done my best, as a white woman, to teach my children, as well as other young folks, about real American history. Not a pretty, shined-up version. We Im inspired by the words & actions of many, however I'm not seeing actions to back up those promises. My children and parents no longer feel safe expressing themselves in public spaces. My Canadian friends are praying for our nation. Internationally, we have become the monsters who we used to fight against. or say to help my communities. I stand with Ukraine, Gaza, Greenland, The Gulf of Mexico, Trans and non binary loved ones. As a disabled, queer activist, I struggle to know what to do I am a queer, disabled, female 3rd generation American who doesn't see America speaking for me. Will my social security income continue? Will my veteran parents and friends still receive the medical care they earned? Will my Mexican friends feel safe leaving their homes again? These are the questions I'm hearing in my communities. We deserve answers to these questions. America is no longer looked up to. It's scary to think about the future. Will the president join with Putin to continue killing innocent people in pointless land grabs? I fear that we haven't learned the lessons of our shared history. I am but one voice. We need folks like you to stand with us and for us. Thank you for your time and energy.
