Trump Wants to Impeach Federal Judges For Upholding the Rule of Law

To: Rep. Rouzer, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Wilmington, NC

March 21

I am writing as a concerned citizen who values the integrity of our constitutional democracy. Recent actions by President Donald Trump attempting to impeach federal judges is a grave danger to the foundational principle of checks and balances that has safeguarded our democracy. Federal judges serve as a crucial, independent check on executive and legislative power. Their role is not to cater to political whims but to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. When the president seeks to remove judges simply for ruling against his interests it represents an alarming attempt to undermine judicial independence. Such actions not only erode public trust in the justice system but also weaken the very safeguards that prevent the rise of authoritarianism. I urge you to stand firmly against any efforts to impeach federal judges without just cause. Congress must defend the judiciary from politically motivated attacks and reaffirm its commitment to the separation of powers. Our nation cannot allow any leader to defy lawful court orders or dismantle the essential guardrails of our democracy. I request that you publicly condemn these actions and use your constitutional authority to protect the independence of the federal judiciary.
