Governor Greg Abbott’s push for school vouchers and education savings accounts (ESAs) will hurt the 9 out of 10 Texas students who rely on public schools. The vast majority of Texans—over 65%—oppose these voucher schemes, knowing they will siphon public funds to private schools and leave most kids behind (Houston Chronicle, March 2025). Despite this clear public opposition, the Governor continues to pursue a policy that undermines Texas’s public education system. Texans need leaders who listen to their constituents and prioritize the well-being of all children, not just a privileged few. I urge you to do your job and stand with Texas families. Reject these harmful voucher and ESA bills, and instead invest in strong, well-funded public schools that serve every Texas child.
