I am a LCSW who resides in your district. I am contacting you regarding Senator Pennycuick's recently released co-sponsor memo introducing a bill to join the Interstate Social Work Licensure Compact. Please pass this bill! As a psychotherapist, every time a client leaves the state, we face a conundrum of no longer offering insurance or even no longer seeing them, unless we purchase another Social Work license in the state where they now reside. This compromises the care of the patient, who then has to find and bond with a new therapist, as well as, on the therapist side: losing a client. Social workers and their clients alike both need this bill to pass (in every state) to allow for continuity of care like our patients deserve. Thanks for listening!
