President Trump has just signed an order dismantling the Department of Education. You may believe that returning control over education to the states is a good thing, but this action is not. It is an unconstitutional power-grab of the Executive Branch. You must hold him accountable and you must stop this end-run around the constitution, pursued on so many fronts. Our constitutional democracy may sometimes work slowly, but that’s good—when tech industries “move fast and break things,” X/Twitter goes down for a bit but life for most of us goes on. Breaking the norms of our democracy is not the same thing. Only Republicans can hold President Trump accountable and so protect your consitutents from breaking our system of governance. I expect to see you speak out against this order, even if you agree with the outcome it produces.
