Federal immigration agents have been accused of violating immigration laws and constitutional rights through unlawful arrests and creation of warrants after detaining individuals. Attorneys cite at least 22 cases in the Midwest since January where agents made arrests without proper warrants or probable cause of flight risk as required under the Nava Settlement agreement. One U.S. citizen was even arrested, handcuffed and detained overnight despite presenting identification. These actions disregard due process protections and erode trust in immigration enforcement. I urge you to investigate these violations, hold agents accountable through disciplinary action, and ensure all immigration procedures fully comply with the law to protect the rights of all people.
