I am writing to express my deep concern about the ongoing impact of tariffs on American workers like myself. I have directly felt the devastating consequences of recent trade policies. Just last month, I lost my job due to government contract cancellations that were a direct result of DOGE cuts supported by Republicans.
As I look for my next job opportunity, the day to day uncertainly in the markets led by your administration's lack of clarity and direction is making it difficult for organizations to commit to hiring. Specifically, the tariffs imposed on imported goods and materials have significantly increased the cost of doing business for many companies, particularly those that rely on global supply chains for essential components and they do not have the money to hire.
While I understand the intent behind these tariffs was to bolster domestic industries, the reality is that they have made it more difficult for businesses to compete, increased prices for consumers, and led to job losses. The uncertainty created by these policies has made it difficult for companies to plan for the future, and hardworking Americans are bearing the brunt of the consequences.
I urge you to reconsider the current tariff policies and work toward trade agreements that support American workers and businesses. A more strategic approach—one that reduces unnecessary costs, fosters job growth, and ensures the stability of government contracts—would be far more beneficial to the economy and to individuals like me who simply want to work and contribute to our country.
I appreciate your time and attention to this critical issue. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter further and share more details on how these tariffs have negatively impacted my career and financial stability. Please consider policies that protect American jobs and create a stronger economic foundation for all of us.
