I am writing as a concerned constituent deeply troubled by the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that continue to devastate our communities. Recent reports confirm that legal immigrants and even Native American citizens—whose ancestral lands these are—are being harassed and detained in these sweeping operations.
These actions violate the basic principles of justice and human rights that this country was founded upon. Legal immigrants who have complied with every law and regulation should not live in fear of being wrongfully detained. Native American communities, whose sovereignty and rights are protected by treaties and federal law, must not be subjected to racial profiling and questioning on their own lands.
This is not a matter of policy disagreement but of morality and constitutional rights. No individual should be forced to "prove" their belonging when their very existence here is lawful—especially when their roots run deeper than the very borders now used against them.
I urge you to take immediate action to investigate these raids, hold those responsible accountable, and work toward legislation that prevents ICE from targeting legal residents, asylum seekers, and Indigenous peoples. Our immigration policies must be enforced with humanity, accuracy, and respect for every person’s legal rights and dignity.
I look forward to your response and to seeing you stand for justice on this critical issue.
