A Matter of National Security
To: Rep. Webster, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott
From: A verified voter in The Villages, FL

As difficult as it is to write this letter to you, it is even more difficult to remain civil because of my outrage. What is going on with our national security? As your constituent, I have every right to expect you to stand up and act against the egregious, careless, and shameful actions of cabinet members, national security advisors, and the Secretary of Defense concerning the outrageous security breach by using group chat on SIGNAL. This network is neither a secure nor a legal device to share sensitive information; they all know it isn’t safe. They all know that using SIGNAL is illegal, and they ignored the law and used it anyway. They all knew that this information was to be shared in the SKIF because of the level of national security involved, yet they flouted the law and used what was most expedient for them regardless of the security breach it was. To take this a step further, why isn’t this a violation of the Espionage Act? This is a blatantly careless act of mishandling information directly related to our national security. Further, they all know official conversations on an unsecured network are illegal. ALL messages must be achieved, yet this app was set to delete these messages after designated lengths of time automatically. The law doesn’t apply to them—more lawlessness. On top of that, the president decided that the best way to handle this egregious situation was to lie openly about his knowledge of anything. He decided to look at America and lie to our faces. Does he really think we believe that his subordinate, Pete Hegseth, has decided to bomb a foreign country, and he doesn’t know anything about it? I suppose that seems reasonable since his MAGA supporters blindly believe every lie he tells them, but the rest of the country doesn’t believe him. We all know he’s lying and woefully inadequate as a leader. Isn’t this a criminally negligent breach of classified information? Suppose we can’t count on our national security advisors and Cabinet members to respect our national security information and the laws designed to protect that information. Aren’t we then in trouble and threatened by our own government? If our war plans aren’t secure, are we safe from other foreign adversaries as a country? No. We are not. What are you going to do about this? You are the Congress; this is your job. You have sworn to protect the nation, and your silence means you are openly defying your oath to the Constitution and the people of this nation. Action needs to be taken. It's time for the Republican party to be courageous. The security of the nation depends on it. Do your job and take appropriate action.
