Last night as reported by the Washington Post, Israel had officially broken the ceasefire with Hamas, bombing the Gaza Strip, killing at least 404 people and injuring 562. There are reports of videos floating around online of parents carrying the remains of their children who were obliterated by the bombs.
I am asking what is the excuse for our country’s support this time? The obvious answer at this time is that there is none. It’s one thing to go after Hamas, it’s something completely different to indiscriminately kill and block all aid from entering the strip, condemning a civilian population to famine and, quite frankly, hell on earth.
This unconditional support overall has been bipartisan. While former president Biden did place some restrictions on 2,000 lb. bombs from being sent, and he temporarily put sanctions on certain Israeli settlers, the unconditional support never truly went away. We still sent weapons, we still protected Israel at the United Nations, and we never enforced any of our warnings to the country (I am particularly talking about the memorandum sent by the former president).
This unconditional support from both the republicans and the democrats needs to end. We are breaking our own laws to support a far right-wing government and war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu. What are you going to do about this? Are you going to stay quiet about this, or are you going to do what you can to stand for what is right?
