A SEVENTH rate hike in one year is ridiculous. ”PG&E’s profits soared higher in 2023, buoyed by surging electricity and natural gas revenues. “The Oakland-based power company earned an eye-popping $2.24 billion in profits last year, an increase of 24.6% from 2022, PG&E reported on Thursday. The report also predicted the utility titan’s investors can anticipate even better earnings in 2024.” What?!?! Disgusting! PG&E is a monopoly out of control. My utility bills used to be in the mid-$300s and most during the winter. This winter, high $400s are not uncommon, with no real change in our home’s energy efficiency or our power usage. I don’t know what’s going on, but the Public Utility Commission is not doing its job. You need to reign in PG&E. California should consider taking it over as a state-run public service rather than a profit-seeking societal leech.
STOP PG&E price gouging. It is hurting us.
