I’m writing to voice my strong opposition to AB 1092, which would extend concealed carry license durations from two years to as many as four years. Frequent renewals serve as a critical checkpoint, allowing law enforcement and issuing authorities to reassess a license holder’s eligibility, mental health status, and compliance with the law. By stretching out this renewal process, AB 1092 risks weakening these essential safeguards. More time between reviews means more room for oversight gaps, leaving our community less safe. I respectfully urge you to vote against AB 1092 and preserve the shorter renewal cycles that ensure responsible, up-to-date oversight of concealed carry licenses.
