I'm writing to insist you protect all of our free speech and demand the release of Mahmoud Khalil. If a permanent resident isn't safe to peacefully protest and risks a secret ambush with no transparency, none of us are safe. We could be targeted for our skin color, for being Jewish or Muslim, for saying the wrong thing on the wrong day. Without the right to free speech, none of us are safe. It's a matter of time before all Florida residents become targets or at least have to live in fear every single day. I don't want to live like that. None of us do. Please stand up now and use your power to defend Mahmoud Khalil. Before it's too late. His hearing is Wednesday. I'm also devastated for our Florida students about the way the Department of Education is being closed. Our students have been falling behind the rest of the world, and for them to be able to succeed in the world, we need to keep up with the latest educational research and make sure they ALL receive a good education. It's the best and often only way for those from more challenging backgrounds to succeed. It's part of what makes our country a land of opportunity. Please speak up.
