Diversity makes us stronger- please allow the Governor's veto to stand

Sustaining diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at our public universities is crucial for fostering an environment that embraces all perspectives and backgrounds. These initiatives promote understanding, respect, and equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or other differences. They enrich the educational experience by exposing students to diverse viewpoints and preparing them to thrive in an increasingly diverse society and workforce. Dismantling DEI programs would send a harmful message that Kentucky rejects inclusivity and does not value the diverse voices that strengthen our communities. It would undermine efforts to create a welcoming and equitable learning environment for all students. Instead of pursuing a divisive agenda rooted in intolerance, we should celebrate the diversity that exists within our Commonwealth and the immense value it brings. I urge you to uphold Governor Beshear's veto and reject attempts to defund or eliminate DEI initiatives at our public colleges and universities. These programs play a vital role in fostering mutual understanding, promoting equal access to educational opportunities, and cultivating a tolerant, compassionate society. Let us move forward as a united community that embraces diversity as a source of strength, not fear or rejection.
