I am writing to strongly urge you to oppose House Bill 3537, which seeks to define life as beginning at fertilization and would impose severe restrictions on reproductive healthcare in South Carolina. This bill is dangerous, invasive, and out of step with the needs and rights of South Carolinians.
H.3537 not only threatens to criminalize essential healthcare, but it also disregards the complexities that families, medical providers, and individuals face when navigating pregnancy. It would jeopardize access to fertility treatments, miscarriage care, and other vital medical services — putting patients and doctors in impossible and unsafe positions.
This bill also represents an alarming government overreach into deeply personal medical decisions that should be made by individuals and their healthcare providers, not by politicians.
As your constituent, I urge you to oppose H.3537 and instead focus on legislation that protects healthcare access, supports families, and respects the personal freedoms of South Carolinians.
You must stand for the rights and well-being of your constituents.
