The EPA under Zeldin is not considering the cancelled grants on a case by case basis or giving the nonprofits approved for funding opportunities to discuss and explain the impact of their projects. This is uncalled for, a betrayal of the American people and of the promise made for transparency and careful vetting of funds. The shuttering of Environmental Justice efforts has been crushing to at-risk communities which, through the wording now deemed controversial by the administration, were the clients of these grants. Good projects, desperately needed help, is being denied to our communities on a misinformed, ideological basis. What will you do to help them? These were congressionally appointed funds - use your power to force oversight and a detailed discussion with each and every nonprofit thrown into the darkness of uncertainty and confusion by these decisions. Please. The EPA is currently being allowed to abandon its responsibilities toward the most vulnerable citizens of our country who, were being helped under the terminology of equity and environmental justice.
