It is our patriotic duty to support Ukraine as they defend democracy for the rest of the free world against Putin. All of us have lived in the most peaceful time in history in spite of a proliferation of the most dangerous weapons ever invented because of our beliefs and practices espoused at the UN that no country takes land from another sovereign nation. The Ukraine has worked to become a fair and democratic country and to shake off the corruption and malign practices of Russia. They have defended their border with no American or European troops on the ground. They deserve our thanks, weapons, aid and praise for keeping our enemy - Russia - at bay. If they are allowed to fall, Russia will continue its conquest over other sovereign nations and we will be forced to send our soldiers into the battle. NATO may not be perfect, but it has allowed us to trade freely with the world, to travel and for the entire planet to prosper and flourish. There are flaws, but the way to fix them is not to bully Ukraine while it is vulnerable. Follow the laws set by Congress to supply Ukraine with its needs, and do more. Provide them with the held funds from the sanctioned Russian oligarchs and with the materiel to mount an offense on Russia to win. To date we have given them no materiel of value to us, or any information we could not afford to provide. The money we’ve spent has been as beneficial to American companies and workers as it has been to Ukraine’s soldiers. This is not lost on us citizens. It is the right thing to do as Americans defending democracy and as humans.
