Oppose the “No Rogue Rulings Act”
To: Rep. Kiggans
From: A constituent in Virginia Beach, VA
March 25
I am writing as your constituent and a concerned citizen to express my strong opposition to the proposed “No Rogue Ruling Act” introduced by Speaker Mike Johnson. This bill appears to be a direct assault on the independence of the federal judiciary and a dangerous attempt to limit the ability of district courts to check unconstitutional actions by the executive or legislative branches.
Our democracy depends on a balance of powers, and the federal courts play a critical role in upholding the Constitution and protecting the rights of all Americans. The idea that a single political branch would seek to strip district courts of their ability to issue nationwide injunctions is deeply troubling. Such injunctions have historically been essential in halting unlawful policies that harm large groups of people—especially when time is of the essence.
This proposed legislation feels less like a good-faith effort to reform judicial procedure and more like retaliation for rulings that certain politicians dislike. It risks setting a precedent where judicial independence is sacrificed for political gain, and that is a path we must not take.
As your constituent, I urge you to publicly oppose the “No Rogue Ruling Act” and to stand firm in defending the separation of powers enshrined in our Constitution. I would appreciate a written response stating your position on this issue.
Thank you for your service and attention to this important matter.
