I am writing to ask you to oppose any attempts to sell off our public lands, including in the budget reconciliation process. Public lands like Pike National Forest protect clean air and water, preserve wildlife and provide spaces for recreation. People across the political spectrum want to keep enjoying these special places and protect them for future generations--not sell them off or exploit them. Recent polling confirms that most voters in Colorado oppose taking public lands away from the management and stewardship of agencies like the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, and most of them are worried about the loss of natural areas. Public lands also generate billions of dollars in revenue for local communities every year. People across the West are marching at national parks and state capitols to stand up against attacks on public lands. I am adding my voice to theirs and asking you to defend what makes Colorado great. Please stand up for the future of public lands by opposing any reconciliation budget that sells off federal lands in Colorado or elsewhere across the West.
