Protect Social Security benefits from DOGE's reckless actions
To: Rep. Mannion
From: A constituent in Liverpool, NY
March 4
The actions taken by DOGE at the Social Security Administration are deeply concerning and threaten to disrupt the vital benefits that millions of Americans rely on. As a former agency head has warned, these reckless changes could lead to an interruption of Social Security payments within the next few months. This is unacceptable - Social Security has never missed sending out monthly benefits since its inception over 80 years ago. The dismissal of top leadership, deep staffing cuts, office closures, and system changes imposed by DOGE endanger the entire Social Security program and the lifeline it provides to over 72 million recipients. Older adults, disabled individuals, and others who depend on these earned benefits will face delays, denials, and reduced access to in-person services if DOGE's overhaul proceeds unchecked. Protecting and strengthening Social Security must be a top priority. I urge you to take immediate action to rein in DOGE's destabilizing actions at the Social Security Administration before this vital program collapses under the strain. Millions of Americans' financial security is at stake. Safeguarding their hard-earned Social Security benefits is not just a matter of economic stability, but of human dignity. We cannot allow this administration's reckless actions to inflict such harm.
