Demand $1,300 allotment increase

To: Rep. Gervin-Hawkins, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Sen. Campbell, Gov. Abbott

From: A verified voter in San Antonio, TX

March 7

The Texas Legislature is patting themselves on the back for a $220 per student funding increase in HB2, but that doesn't even come close to keeping up with inflation, let alone reversing the massive funding shortfall our schools have faced since 2019. In reality, we need at least $1,300 per student just to get Texas schools back to where they were before the legislature put them in a budget crisis. $220 isn't progress—it's an insult. Our students and teachers deserve better. Without real funding, schools will continue to struggle with overcrowded classrooms, underpaid teachers, and fewer resources for kids who need them most. Speak up for your public schools in your neighborhoods! You have the power to do the right thing. Demand an allotment increase of at least $1,300 per student!
