I’m contacting you to urge you to reject the mandatory spending cuts laid out in House Concurrent Resolution 14 as the budget process continues. Congress must pass a budget that actually benefits Americans instead of slashing funds to essential life-saving programs like Medicaid to finance tax breaks for the wealthy.
The budget resolution does not yet specify cuts to Medicaid or other essential programs, but the $880 billion spending cut it mandates from the Energy & Commerce committee will unquestionably lead to Medicaid cuts.
If the reconciliation bill that follows this budget resolution includes cuts to Medicaid, or any other essential program like Medicare or SNAP, I will hold this office accountable for lying to us constituents.
I would like a written response from the legislative aide assigned to this policy area.
