I am writing as a constituent that is deeply concerned about the dissolution of the department of education. As a parent of a child who accesses education via an IEP, and a licensed and practicing speech language pathologist I am very troubled by the idea that our federal and local government could consider measures that target one of our state’s most vulnerable population. Disabled students deserve the same free and public education that their non-disabled peers receive, full stop. President Trump’s order is a direct violation of ADA and IDEA and Tennessee families are looking to Congress to stop his EO from using our children as political pawns.
