Protecting Funding for Essential Food Assistance Programs

To: Rep. Fitzpatrick, Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Souderton, PA

March 17

I am writing to urge you to protect and continue funding for critical food assistance programs, including food pantries, Meals on Wheels, and school breakfast and lunch programs. These services are lifelines for many in our community, ensuring that children, seniors, and families in need do not go hungry. Food insecurity is a growing issue, and these programs play a vital role in supporting those who struggle to put food on the table. Food pantries provide immediate relief for families facing financial hardship, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals. Meals on Wheels delivers food to seniors and individuals with disabilities, allowing them to maintain their independence and health. School meal programs ensure that children receive the nutrition they need to focus and succeed in the classroom, regardless of their family’s financial situation. Eliminating or reducing funding for these programs would have devastating consequences, forcing many to choose between food, rent, and other basic necessities. No one in our community should go hungry, especially when these programs provide effective, proven solutions to food insecurity. I urge you to stand in support of these essential services and oppose any cuts that would undermine their ability to serve those in need. Investing in food security is an investment in our community’s well-being, health, and future. Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you will take action to ensure continued funding for these vital programs.
