DON'T dismantle the Department of Education

To: Sen. Ossoff, Rep. Loudermilk, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Calhoun, GA

March 21

The proposed dismantling of the US Department of Education raises significant concerns about the potential impact on educational access and quality for all Americans, especially the most vulnerable students. The Department plays a crucial role in ensuring equitable distribution of resources, supporting students with disabilities, and providing funding for schools serving low-income communities through programs like Title I and IDEA. Eliminating this vital federal agency risks exacerbating educational disparities and leaving millions of students behind. Moreover, a strong public education system is essential for the nation's future prosperity and global competitiveness. Undermining federal support for education could limit opportunities for millions of children, hindering their ability to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to a thriving society and workforce. This executive order appears to prioritize political ideology over the best interests of students, families, and the long-term well-being of the nation. I urge you to consider the far-reaching consequences of this action and instead work towards strengthening and improving the education system to benefit all Americans, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. Investing in quality education is an investment in the country's future, and should be a top priority for any administration committed to upholding the principles of equal opportunity and national progress.
